Mackey Design: A Close Look at the Best of Web Design

Although I’m not a web designer myself and have only dabbled in it to an extent, I’ve become more attentive and perceptive about web design since the early 2000s, and I must say that I’ve seen a lot of changes in trends and technology within that window of time. With tools that make web design easier and more tech savvy generations coming of age, it seems like just about anybody can put together a flashy, sleek website in no time and at an insultingly low cost. However, that’s not necessarily the case.

As you’ve probably seen, there are some websites with horrible designs. I won’t name any specific examples out of respect for their owners, but let’s just say I’ve come across quite a few that look like their designers used web design tools that were cutting-edge in 1995. When you see websites like that, they don’t really make you want to do business with them. I mean, if they’re too lazy to advertise properly, then how can we expect their products and services to be any better?

I decided to start the Mackey Design blog to reveal the gems in the world of web design, the ones that make me actually interested in their products, services or general ideas.

Examining Good Website Design

When visiting a website for the first time, the visual presentation is the first thing we pay attention to over actual content. It doesn’t matter if there’s well-written copy filling each page or good prices advertised for quality products; if the website itself looks horrendous, you’d do just as well advertising your business with chalk on a sidewalk.

Solid web designs take time and effort, with creative flair influencing the layout, from the banner images to each individual button. This blog will explore some of the best websites I’ve discovered, ones that have managed to convince me that they know not only what they’re selling to me, but also what it takes to have a good web presentation. In doing this, I hope to educate people about how to make their websites more powerful by showing examples of the most innovative and exciting designs.

Because I’m not really a professional web designer myself, I’ve had the wonderful web design team at OneIMS handle that for me here, who I discovered through their amazingly designed website as well. I’m really satisfied with the service they’ve provided as they’ve managed to make my website look exactly the way I want it to. After all, what would be the point of a blog about good web design be if it didn’t practice what it preached?
